Wildlife – Barn Owl

(This photo is from an image bank and was not taken on the Deben)

Around Waldringfield, barn owls are residents. They are often seen flying over the marshes and around the fields near the Waller Reserve especially during the Summer evenings when nights are shorter. There are many Owl boxes around the village to encourage them to nest and  Tawny Owls and sometimes Little Owls are also found around here. They can all be heard calling especially in the mating season and when they have young fledging. The Barn Owls screech and the Tawny Owls hoot.
