Cadet
The International Cadet is a small two person dinghy, with spinnaker, sailed by kids up to the age of 17. It’s an excellent training and racing boat which has been a proving ground for future Olympic champions. The Cadet is a great boat to start sailing in – come and join in!
Dragonfly
The Dragonfly is the jewel of the Deben. The boat was built for the Waldringfield Sailing Club in the late 1940’s and over a fifteen year period 45 boats were build to a classic clinker-built design.
The class is very active and full of fun.

ILCA (Laser)
The ILCA (Laser) fleet at WSC is an active race fleet with good turnouts on both Saturday afternoons and Wednesday evenings. Standard rig, Laser Radials and 4.7s all feature. Saturday racing is around compact courses with plenty of mark rounding. This helps keep the fleet together and provides plenty to talk about back onshore. We run several initiatives aimed at the novice and intermediate Laser sailors. These range from informal rigging and boat handling discussions in the dinghy park to regular Saturday morning training sessions.
The club has two Lasers that can be hired for the club racing or training events to help introduce sailors to the class and to try a Laser, details on Club Boats page
The fleet actively seeks and welcome new sailors seeking to join an active racing class catering for a range of abilities. Please make feel free to make contact with any enquiries or questions.
Lark
The Lark fleet at Waldringfield Sailing Club was established in the mid 1980’s and has remained one of the club’s strongest fleets throughout. We are also one of the largest and most competitive Lark fleets in the country.
OK
The OK dinghy has a long history at Waldringfield, being a highly suitable design for river sailing in the Deben and is growing again as the OK nationally and internationally has a resurgence. Suitable for a range of helm weights and able to carry heavier weight helms competitively, the OK’s race together on the K start on Saturday afternoons, and in the fast handicap start on Wednesday evening series. Waldringfield also hosts an OK class at the Easter Egg and Cartoon open meetings.
RS200
The RS200 is suited to adult, older junior or adult/junior combinations. The Club now has twenty-two boats actively club racing on Saturday afternoons and Wednesday evenings. Visitors are welcome and RS200s race in the Easter Egg, Regatta and Cartoon open meetings.
We now have a club-owned RS200 that can be borrowed by anyone interested in trying the boat. Details and booking can be found on the Club Boats page.

Squib
The Squib is a 6 metre racing keelboat. It can be sailed by a wide range of crews of different weights and sizes, and it can be towed behind a medium sized car. With the cockpit comfort of a yacht and the handling of a dinghy, it is well-suited to river and sea sailing.
The Squib is an “East Coast” boat, originally designed by Oliver Lee in 1968 at Burnham- on-Crouch. Squibs have been sailed every season since 1970 here at Waldringfield and this year celebrate their 50th Anniversary. We are proud to be one of the oldest fleets in the country. Topper
Sailed at WSC by juniors and adults, the Topper is a lightweight single-handed one-design dinghy, easily rigged and with very simple sail controls (and built from polypropylene and therefore virtually indestructible!). The recommended weight range for Juniors is around 45-65kg, with a smaller 4.2 sail available for lighter sailors or windier conditions! For adults, ability and confidence are more relevant than weight.

Wayfarer
The Wayfarer fleet at Waldringfield Sailing Club was established over 25 years ago and has gone from strength to strength. The club has a large fleet of racing Wayfarers and encourages a competitive but friendly environment for racing.
Waldringfield is not just about racing and with its location on picturesque River Deben it is well suited to those who do not wish to race but just cruise this wonderful river.
