Go Sailing for Adults

Dinghy Sailing

This will run on Saturday mornings (see dates below) from 9.45am until about midday. It’s an opportunity for anyone over 18 to develop their sailing skills and gain the confidence to cruise or start racing should they want to.

Participants can use their own dinghy or use one of the Club sailing dinghies.  We have 2 Wayfarers, 2 Hartley Fifteens and a Laser Bahia. Each session will be run by experienced volunteers available to give advice if you need it and accompany you if required. Safety cover will be provided. We also have the use of keelboats with their owners acting as instructors.

There are fourteen sessions on Saturday mornings between April and October. The dates are below and in the Club’s 2025 programme. The galley will be open for coffee and tea after sailing. There is no cost, and it is open to WSC members. Non-members are also welcome to attend a maximum of three sessions before joining the club, to see if they like sailing here. Sailors must bring suitable clothing and footwear, but buoyancy aids can be borrowed.

The sessions will go ahead whatever the weather, though they might be shorter if the weather is bad. Oriel O’Loughlin is organising and she can be contacted at . If you would like a place in the club boats, or ask any questions, you will need to email by the preceding Tuesday. If you have your own boat, you also need to book, and then be ready to sail at 09.45.

Yacht Sailing

Waldringfield is a popular part of the river Deben to keep a yacht. Sailing Club members take part in a number of cruises throughout the year and are always pleased to hear from like-minded people.
