Toppers at WSC
Raced by juniors and adults, WSC introduced Toppers as a new class in 2017. Toppers are a very friendly and relaxed class, with sailing at all levels and degrees of competitiveness. We take part in club racing on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons.
Sunday Training
The class runs training days throughout the year that are aimed at juniors and adults who already know how to sail, but want to improve their skills. Training is tailored to the needs of those who come, with the aim of getting people involved in club racing. Each training day is a combination of learning on and off the water. They are a mix of training in specific skills and the chance to put these skills into practice in mini races. For more information contact .
Junior Sailing
For younger beginners, there is Junior Sailing on Saturday mornings – details on the Junior Sailing page.
Are there Club Boats?
Yes, we have two fantastic club Toppers available for hire for a small charge (see WSC website here). There are also plenty of members happy to take others out for a trial sail or loan their boats.
Getting your own boat
Second hand Toppers are widely available, and not expensive, and class members will be happy to advise on how to choose one.
The class has a lively WhatsApp group, with chat, and immediate access to lots of advice! There are usually boats available to buy from members already in the club.
Where can I store my Topper?
There are spaces both beach-side (be quick though, they go fast) and in the cliff top dinghy park.
How can I get involved?
If you would like to sail, race or arrange to try sailing a Topper please contact class captain Hugo Mason at .
