Kestrels are a easy to identify with their pointed wings and long tail. They prey small mammals and birds, worms and insects. Kestrel are Amber listed due to their declining numbers since the 1970s, most likely as a result of changes in farming.

Near Waldringfield, Kestrels are found all around the village. They are resident and nest locally. They hunt by hovering over their target and then swooping down to catch small mammals especially over the fields near the Waller Reserve.
